Jack Black and Jason Momoa’s “A Minecraft Movie” is new in theaters and appears to be heading for a big opening weekend at the box office. Does that mean the film will get a sequel?

Fans of Minecraft will recognize a few of the game’s elements in this scene from “A Minecraft Movie.” But the sequence is also a good comic excuse to stuff Jack Black and Jason Momoa into a mine cart together.

Weekend ticket sales will total $157 million, analysts said, nearly double the expected amount, ending a Hollywood dry spell.

Hollywood needed “A Minecraft Movie” to be a hit, and it delivered in its opening weekend, significantly narrowing this year’s box office deficit.

In clips purportedly taken from this unbaked version of the movie, you can see Jack Black’s Steve dancing around in surreal and empty landscapes, surrounded by oddly shaky Minecraft creatures who lack the polish (and weird shininess) that’s been applied to basically everything in the finalized take of Jared Hess’ movie.
