It began with a moment of silence for a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband who were killed in what Gov. Tim Walz called a political assassination.

An estimated 8,000 protesters filled the Broadway Bridge sidewalk from one end to the other Saturday morning during one of the thousands of No Kings Marches across the country.

Protesters began gathering early on the west steps of the state Capitol in Sacramento as a so-called “No Kings” protest against Trump administration policies, part of a nationwide day of demonstrations meant to coincide with a military parade marking the 250th anniversary of the U.

In New York City, the biggest "No Kings" demonstration will take place at Bryant Park starting at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and move down Fifth Avenue to Madison Square Park.

In St. Augustine, more than 1,000 people protested in the historic downtown. The group gathered at the base of the Castillo de San Marcos to protest the Trump Administration.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich shared her support and encouraged attendance at the 'No Kings' protests this weekend.
