A National Transportation Safety Board investigator said both the runway lights and an automated weather-notification system at the destination airport were inoperable when the Cessna 550 plowed into the Murphy Canyon neighborhood at about 3:45 a.

Investigators are piecing together the final moments before a small private jet crashed into a San Diego neighborhood, killing all passengers on board.

Investigators also noted that some advanced aviation equipment designed to aid landings was not functioning at the airport at the time of the crash.
