A mail carrier vehicle struck and killed a man on May 19, the Kill Devil Hills Police Department said Wednesday.

On Monday, May 19, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Kill Devil Hills Police Department responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the 2000 block of Portsmouth Street.

The Kill Devil Hills Police Department said Amy Hudler, 53, who was operating the “Mercedes-Benz mail carrier vehicle owned by the United States Postal Service,” backed into Hofler.

“The investigation determined that 53-year-old Amy Hudler of Colington was operating a 2021 Mercedes-Benz mail carrier vehicle owned by the United States Postal Service,” officers said.
