Apollo Global Management (NYSE:APO) said Friday it agreed to provide a loan of as much as £4.5B (~$6B) to support the long-delayed Hinkley Point C nuclear project in the U.K., confirming earlier reports.

U.S. giant Apollo will supply the U.K.'s overdue Hinkley Point C nuclear power station with a £4.5 billion ($6 billion) financing package in one of the biggest private credit deals in Britain. Hinkley Point C owner EDF has faced huge bills to finish the project's construction after Chinese co-owner CGN halted its funding.

Apollo Global Management Inc. agreed to help Electricite de France SA raise as much as £4.5 billion ($6.1 billion) in private bond placements to fund the construction of the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant and other investments in the UK.
