As snow, freezing rain and sleet make their way through North Texas this Thursday and early Friday during the winter storm, most schools and offices are closing their doors, but many other services will remain open.

Hundreds of flights were canceled in Texas on Thursday as a winter storm barreled down on the Dallas area. The storm brought a slippery mix of sleet and snow with two to five inches of snow forecast to fall in some areas, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth.

The greatest snowfall amount recorded at DFW was 11.2 inches Feb. 11, 2010, with 12.5 inches of snow recorded Feb. 11-12, 2010. There were also widespread power outages recorded because of the heavy snow weighing down tree limbs and breaking power lines.

Due to a winter storm hitting Texas, all American Airlines flights between Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Lafayette Regional Airport have been canceled.

The city of Dallas is preparing for inclement weather forecasted to hit North Texas this week. The Dallas-Fort Worth area could see three to six inches of snow.
