US President Donald Trump has said there will be no trade negotiations with India until a dispute over tariffs is resolved, following his administration's decision to double tariffs on Indian imports.

In an executive order, Trump says "I find that the Government of India is currently directly or indirectly importing Russian Federation oil" and due to those purchases, imports of Indian goods into the United States "shall be subject to an additional ... rate of duty of 25%."

When asked by a reporter whether he expects increased trade negotiations with India after announcing 50% tariffs, Trump shrugged his shoulders and replied, “No, not until we get it resolved.”
