Houston Mayor John Whitmire said Tuesday that the city’s police officers have not assisted federal efforts to deport immigrants as the Trump administration threatens mass deportations. The Trump administration this week signed multiple executive orders that attempted to end birthright citizenship,

"Stay at home and leave our roads for our first-responders," Whitmire said in Monday's press conference ahead of the incoming winter storm.

Whitmire expressed frustration with homeless people who refused shelter during this week's winter storm. He said the city needs the authority to remove them from the streets.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey announced at a press conference on Tuesday that he would not cooperate with enforcement officers on deportations of illegal immigrants.
