Bolstered by a £100 million ($135 million) spending spree ahead of the Club World Cup, Manchester City are determined to erase the memory of a disappointing season by returning to winning ways in the United States.
The summer of soccer will take a new look this year with the FIFA Club World Cup, which comes to the U.S. for the first edition of the expanded competition that will see 32 teams from around the world compete for a share of the $1 billion prize purse.
Manchester City have confirmed the signing of AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders ahead of the Club World Cup. The Athletic reported last week that a club-to-club agreement had been reached on a deal worth an initial €55million (£46.6m) before add-ons.
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak outlined that the club are determined to win the Club World Cup and lay down an early marker to their rivals that one off-season will not deter a side that have been so successful under Guardiola from returning to their imperious selves.

Jack Grealish has been left out of Manchester City’s squad for the Club World Cup. City manager Pep Guardiola named a 27-man squad for the tournament, which kicks off in Miami on Saturday, with Grealish a notable omission.
Manchester City confirmed the signing of midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan on a five-year contract on Wednesday and said the Netherlands international will be available for this month's Club World Cup.
