The Kansas City Royals didn’t make a selection in either portion of the 2025 Rule 5 Draft. On Wednesday, the Royals monitored the annual event. There were scouting representatives from all 30 teams in attendance. The Rule 5 Draft consisted of a major-league phase and minor-league component.
The Guardians have spent the last several weeks looking for bullpen help. On Monday, manager Stephen Vogt said, “We’ve got four or five guys and we need eight.” They signed right-hander Connor Brogdon on Dec. 3 to a one-year big-league deal worth $900,000. If Pallette sticks with the Guardians, it will be in the bullpen.
Of course, the headliner of the draft was Washington's selection of Philadelphia Phillies' right-handed pitcher Griff McGarry during the major league phase. The high-ceiling 26-year-old could play an immediate role for the Nationals in 2026, especially if he's converted into a bullpen arm full-time.
