Texas announced it is investigating two big lottery jackpots in the state where the winning tickets weree purchased through a courier service, as the state's lottery office announced it was banning such services.

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick is investigating a lottery store in Austin that sold the $83.5 million winning lottery ticket for Wednesday's drawing.  The prize was the fifth biggest jackpot in the history of the game,

The Texas Lottery Commission’s executive director said Monday he would move to ban couriers from buying lottery tickets after finding that state law bars the practice, an about-face from the agency’s yearslong claim it had no control over such third-party sales.
