According to the National Weather Service, a tornado was observed near Fairmont, Minnesota on Monday afternoon. The federal agency says there have also been reports of quarter-sized hail dropping in Le Sueur County.

Forecasters are warning that damaging winds, large hail, and even tornadoes could hammer the upper Midwest on Monday.

A tornado watch is in effect for parts of northern Texas until 11 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth.

In the afternoon and evening, isolated storms could become intense fast, with very large hail, destructive wind gusts and even tornadoes possible. Southeastern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities, is under a moderate risk for severe weather.

Tornado Warnings are in place for southern Minnesota as a severe weather system organizes and begins to develop across the Upper Midwest. The greatest threats of damaging hail, wind and tornadoes will continue into Monday night.
