The Emergency Alert System will test its communications systems Tuesday morning to prepare for tornado season.

It’s Severe Weather Preparedness Week, and Tuesday, tornado drills were carried out across the state of Indiana. A WTWO/WAWV videographer was at the Sullivan Courthouse as staff there practiced their safety plan in the event of a tornado.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's National Risk Index ranks Monroe County's probability of a tornado as relatively moderate. The ranking is a prediction of annual losses that factors in the vulnerability of the population and a community's resilience.
