Terry McLaurin remains absent as Washington’s training camp kicks off, locked in a standoff over a new contract. ESPN’s Adam Schefter says the gap between the star receiver and the team is “vast” with no resolution in sight.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter told The Pat McAfee Show on Monday that he thinks McLaurin wants "considerably more" than what Pittsburgh Steelers receiver DK Metcalf recently earned on his new contract. Schefter added that the Commanders aren't willing to pay McLaurin that much money right now.

McLaurin, 29, is in the final year of a three-year, $68.3 million deal that places him 17th among wide receivers in terms of average annual value. He had held out the first four days of camp, shortly after he expressed frustration with the lack of progress on a new deal.
