D. Wayne Lukas was one of the most prolific trainers in horse racing, including four Kentucky Derby wins, five Kentucky Oaks victories and 15 Triple Crown races. Lukas won his last Triple Crown race winning the 2024 Preakness Stakes with Seize the Grey.

Lukas trained thousands of thoroughbred horses, and 51 ran in 31 different Kentucky Derbys. He won the race four times.

Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas, who saddled four Kentucky Derby winners among his 15 winners of US Triple Crown races, has died at he age of 89, his family said Sunday.He saddled his most recent Triple Crown race winner last year with Seize the Grey in the Preakness Stakes -- his seventh Preakness triumph.
