Nix threw a clutch 32-yard pass to Troy Franklin with only 48 seconds left, which set up the game-winning field goal of Wil Lutz, as the Broncos escaped the Chiefs, 22-19, at Empower Field at Mile High. They notched their eighth straight victory and improved to 9-2, tying the New England Patriots for the best record in the AFC.

Meanwhile, in the NFC, the Rams seized control of the West by barely hanging on to beat the Seahawks in a battle between two of the NFC’s best. The win vaults the Rams atop the division standings and also gives them a great chance to earn the conference’s No. 1 seed.

While not unexpected, the Patriots ’ Thursday night win over the Jets strengthened their grip on first place in the AFC East. The victory also puts pressure on the Colts and Broncos to keep pace in the race for the AFC’s No. 1 seed.
