A Chaldean Catholic bishop in California has resigned and pleaded not guilty after prosecutors accuse him of stealing more than $270,000 from his parish.

At hearing on March 9, Bishop Emanuel Hana Shaleta pleaded not guilty to 16 felony charges, including embezzlement and money laundering.
