SAN JOSE — Authorities have released body-camera video excerpts of a harrowing gunfight in downtown San Jose in January that left a police officer shot in the head by a gunman — suspected in several carjackings, robberies and other police shootouts that day — who was later shot multiple times, then run over by a police SUV.

According to Miramar police spokeswoman Janice McIntosh, the shooting was reported at about 12:45 p.m. in the 7500 block of Pembroke Road. McIntosh said an argument escalated into a physical altercation, at which time shots were fired.
