Critics have speculated the Trump administration could use the ongoing investigation exemption to withhold files, after the DOJ opened a new investigation into Epstein’s association with high-profile Democrats including former President Bill Clinton, Democratic megadonor Reid Hoffman and economist Larry Summers, as well as JP Morgan Chase.

Last month the House Oversight Committee released a portion of Epstein emails, which mentioned Trump numerous times.

A federal judge in Florida ordered the unsealing of grand jury transcripts and other records in the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein granting the Justice Department’s request.

The Trump administration asked the court to unseal the grand jury materials in light of Congress passing the Epstein Files Transparency Act, a law that requires most of the government’s materials on Epstein to be publicly released by Dec. 19.

Maxwell was convicted in 2021 by a federal jury of sex trafficking for helping recruit some of Epstein’s underage victims and participating in some of the abuse. She is serving a 20-year prison sentence.
