Glass House Farms in California faces investigation for child labor violations after a major ICE raid resulted in 319 arrests and violent clashes between agents and protesters
Federal agents were met by dozens of protesters Thursday when they descended Glass House Farms in rural Camarillo, Calif., to conduct an immigration enforcement operation.
At a Linda Vista apartment complex, masked federal agents recently swarmed an undocumented immigrant to make an arrest as an angry crowd gathered in protest, in a scene that has played out in viral videos across social media amid the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
The spike in ICE enforcement across the country has been accompanied by a massive surge in arrests occurring outside the usual criminal justice pipeline, including a fourfold increase of street arrests in these states, and a fivefold increase in arrests of immigrants who have no criminal charges or convictions.
The order on Friday temporarily blocked the Trump administration from conducting the arrests without “reasonable suspicion” that its targets were in the country illegally.
