With Jimmy Rogers taking over as head coach following Matt Campbell’s departure for the Penn State Nittany Lions, a massive roster overhaul has been in the work

Iowa State will be looking to add dozens upon dozens of players both via the high school ranks and the transfer portal as it looks to not only field a competitive 2026 squad, but also build the depth and foundation Rogers will need going forward.

With Big Ten play all that surrounds basketball season, the Hawkeyes are playing consistently high-quality programs in a quicker turnaround. That includes Iowa's game against Minnesota, just three days after its win over UCLA.

Iowa State quarterbacks Rocco Becht and Alex Manske announced Sunday that they’re transferring to Penn State to play for Matt Campbell, their coach with the Cyclones. They’re among 18 Iowa State players who have committed to Penn State, including 13 on Sunday and the Cyclones’ leading passer, rusher, receiver and tackler from the 2005 season.

Penn State continues to add former Iowa State wideouts to its 2026 roster via the transfer portal. The latest receiver is Chase Sowell, a 6-3, 210-pound redshirt senior who caught 32 passes for 500 yards and two touchdowns in 2025.

Four more Iowa State football players are transferring to Penn State, increasing the number of Cyclones headed to State College to 18, according to reports Monday.

The Hawkeyes are a transfer-laden team led by former Drake and Northwest Missouri State point guard Bennett Stirtz. He leads the team with 17.8 points, 5.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game, to go along with 2.6 rebounds on efficient 51.6/43.4/83.9 shooting splits.
