Former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback John Wolford has a new home. The Minnesota Vikings announced that they have signed Wolford to the practice squad. This move comes after Carson Wentz suffered a season-ending injury. Wolford joins a young Vikings' quarterback room with JJ McCarthy and Max Brosmer.

Vikings Signing QB John Wolford to Practice Squad
In 2023, Wolford signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and spent time on their practice squad. He went through camp with the Bucs in 2024 but was released following training camp. He then signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars late in the season and went through their training camp in 2025, but was released.
The Minnesota Vikings have added another quarterback to their roster, reuniting head coach Kevin O’Connell with John Wolford.
Though he more than likely won’t see the field for the Vikings, Wolford provides depth behind starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy and backup quarterback Max Brosmer. He has also spent time with the New York Jets, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and most recently, the Jacksonville Jaguars in his career.
John Wolford, 30, played in O'Connell's system with the Rams. But he hasn't taken a snap in a regular-season game since 2022.
