Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nacua apologized Thursday after he agreed to perform an antisemitic touchdown celebration during an appearance on a live stream. Nacua issued a statement, saying he was unaware the celebration contained an antisemitic gesture. His full statement read:
Nacua, whose Rams face the Seattle Seahawks on "Thursday Night Football," isn't the only member of his family who has recently made headlines for the wrong reasons. His brother, Samson Nacua, was arrested Saturday for allegedly stealing the SUV of Los Angeles Lakers forward Adou Thiero.
Puka Nacua did not hit a controversial dance following a touchdown on Thursday night. The Rams superstar scored in the fourth quarter of Los Angeles’ road matchup with the Seahawks, but when he got up to celebrate, he spun the ball, performed a quick gesture with his arms, and then had some fun with his teammates.
Critics raised concerns after the wide receiver appeared to mimic an "antisemitic" meme during a recent livestream.
