Elon Musk has long dominated the internet-providing satellites business with regular SpaceX Starlink launches. Now, Jeff Bezos is looking to compete.

SpaceX has now launched 73 Falcon 9 missions in 2025, of which 55 have been in support of the Starlink service. Friday's mission followed a Starlink launch on Thursday evening from California, which marked the 500th overall Falcon flight.

Amazon is preparing to launch its second batch of Project Kuiper internet satellites to orbit as it seeks to build out a constellation to take on SpaceX’s Starlink service.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station Tuesday morning (June 10), carrying 23 Starlink satellites to orbit.

SpaceX states that its Falcon 9 rocket will send up Starlink 12-26 mission from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 11:21 a.m. ET. The launch window will open from 11:21 a.m. ET until 11:44 a.m. ET, meaning SpaceX has during that timeframe to launch its rocket.

Thursday's mission marks the 72nd Falcon 9 launch, with 53 of those dedicated to the Starlink network. The system aims to provide high-speed internet access around the world, and an increasing number of satellites provide direct-to-cell services for texting and a limited data connection on certain kinds of smartphones and through certain carriers.

SpaceX plans to launch a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Monday evening. The launch is currently scheduled for 8:36 p.m. on June 16. A livestream of the launch is scheduled to start about five minutes before liftoff.
