Gov. Maura Healey plans to sign an executive order Tuesday that would require executive branch agencies to review public construction projects with an estimated cost of over $35 million to determine if a project labor agreement is “in the best interest” of the project.

Governor Healey came to MGM Springfield to address the 106th annual convention of the Massachusetts Building Trades Unions (MBTU).

The move, which puts the state in line with policies set in a sweeping economic development bill Healey signed into law last year, is a boon to the state’s powerful unions.
