A South Carolina state trooper who had been fighting for his life since he was hit by a box truck over the weekend has died.Trooper First Class Dennis Ricks was conducting a traffic stop in the early hours of the morning Sunday on I-26 in Orangeburg County when he was struck by a box truck.

A trooper with the South Carolina Highway Patrol has died just days after being struck by a vehicle on I-26 during a traffic stop. Trooper First Class Dennis Ricks died Wednesday night, according to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.
