Reggae singer Cocoa Tea has died at 65 following being diagnosed with pneumonia in 2025 years after being diagnosed with lymphoma in 2019. The singer was known for "I Lost My Sonia," "Sweet Sweet Cocoa Tea" and "Young Lover.

The singer, born in the village of Rocky Point, Jamaica, was known for a romantic voice that shaped and shifted with generations of dancehall and lovers rock.

“Devastated to learn about the death of reggae legend Cocoa Tea today,” writer Stephen Cooper said via Bluesky. “Cocoa Tea had one of the sweetest voices and spirits — and was one of #reggae’s best live performers. My interview of him is one of my favorites.”
