Texas Tech University's campus will be closed the rest of this week after a manhole explosion apparently triggered a series of fires around campus.

Multiple agencies are responding to the Texas Tech campus, where smoke is visible rising into the air. Lubbock Fire Rescue says it’s responding to “multiple fires” on campus and buildings have been evacuated in the area.

An underground fire and explosion at a power substation on the Texas Tech University campus Wednesday night caused multiple power outages and evacuations, sending students to an early spring break. This is a developing story.
