Rookie Troy Melton allowed one hit in five innings and three Detroit Tigers relievers maintained a shutout of the Chicago White Sox in a 1-0 win.

CHICAGO -- Rookie starter Troy Melton led a quartet of Detroit Tigers pitchers to a two-hit shutout Wednesday afternoon in a 1-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field.

With one out in the seventh, Andy Ibanez came in to pinch-hit for Colt Keith and hit a single. But back to the same routine, two outs followed to leave him stranded as the struggle to hit lefties continues. The Sox went down in order in the home half.
