In a preview of his coming leadership, Totoki led Sony's presentation at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this month, unveiling a raft of new entertainment initiatives.
For the last nine months, Totoki had been the Chairman of PlayStation. In this role, he was managing the gaming division in sync with Hideaki Nishino, who was CEO of the Platform Business Group, while Hermen Hulst was CEO of Studio Business Group.
Insomniac was acquired in 2019 by Sony, which has successfully adapted a number of PlayStation properties for film and TV in recent years, including Uncharted and The Last of Us. Earlier this month, Sony announced films based on Helldivers and Horizon: Zero Dawn are in the works.
