JUNEAU — Former Fairbanks Sen. Click Bishop on Monday filed a letter of intent to run for Alaska governor in next year’s general election. Bishop, a Republican, served in the state Senate for 12 years starting in 2013. He is the first person to file a letter of intent for the 2026 gubernatorial election.
A bill passed Monday by the Alaska House seeks to implement an upcoming ballot measure two years ahead of time.
The filings of intent mark the first formal entries into what is expected to be a competitive race to succeed term-limited Gov. Mike Dunleavy.
