The Detroit Tigers have re-signed a depth catcher to a minor league contract. According to Mike Mayer of Metsmerized, the Tigers have agreed to terms on the minor league deal with Tomas Nido, an agreement which includes a non-roster invite to spring training and a $1.

The Detroit Tigers signed veteran catcher Tomás Nido, who becomes the third-best catcher on the depth chart — behind Jake Rogers and Dillon Dingler.

DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers have re-signed veteran catcher Tomas Nido to a minor-league contract, according to the MLB transactions log. Nido, who turns 31 in April, signed with the Tigers last September and played in three games at the end of the 2024 season for Triple-A Toledo.

It has been a fairly quiet offseason for the Detroit Tigers so far this winter, which is slightly disappointing considering the success the team had last year.
