The asteroid is hurtling towards us at a zippy 15,000 miles per hour, according to the space agency's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

"An asteroid this size impacts Earth on average every few thousand years and could cause severe damage to a local region," the European Space Agency said.

NASA increased the chances of asteroid 2024 YR4 hitting Earth to 1 in 32, or 3.1%, on Tuesday, but they're now back down to 1 in 67, or 1.5%.
