The former New York governor’s reaction comes amid reports that the DOJ has opened a criminal investigation into statements he made about his handling of the pandemic.
The probe is looking into allegations that Cuomo intentionally lied to Congress about his role in drafting a New York State Health Department report on nursing home deaths caused by the pandemic.
The Trump administration is ratcheting up its threats of prosecution against Democrats and other critics, in an escalation of its use of the legal system to go after the president’s perceived enemies.
That office is headed up by former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, a Cuomo critic who unsuccessfully ran against him for state attorney general in 2006. A spokesperson for Cuomo, who is running for New York City mayor, offered a searing statement saying the Democrat had not been notified of the probe.
