Recently, DP World entered into a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Dominican Republic government to invest $760m in improving the Port of Caucedo and its Free Trade Zone.

The MOU outlines DP World's intention to invest approximately US$760 million to expand its free trade zone and increase the capacity of its Caucedo port terminal.

DP World, which has operated in the Dominican Republic for over 25 years, currently manages both the marine terminal at the Port of Caucedo, and the adjacent 86-hectare Free Trade Zone Park.

The DNCD described the raid as a “forceful and hard blow to drug trafficking structures”. The seizure was made at Caucedo Multimodal Port.

Before this, the largest seizure on record was in 2006, when officials found more than 5,680 pounds, or nearly three tons, of cocaine at the Caucedo port. This seizure is more than triple that size.
