The Indianapolis Colts gave quarterback Daniel Jones a one-year, $14 million deal to compete for the starting job, and head coach Shane Steichen loves what he has been seeing from the 28-year-old signal-caller.

Jones' performance and Anthony Richardson's absence during OTAs and minicamp aren't going to determine the quarterback competition. In terms of getting a true evaluation during this time of the year, when there is no pass rush and receivers can run freely, well, that's difficult.

With Anthony Richardson's shoulder issue sidelining him until some point during training camp, Daniel Jones has an opportunity to solidify himself as the frontrunner in the Colts' quarterback competition.
