Ankle injuries have been an reoccurring issue for Edey since entering the NBA. He first injured his left ankle while playing summer league in July of 2024. His first major NBA injury was also a left ankle injury that resulted in him missing 12 games.

Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey received bad news on the injury front. The former Purdue basketball star re-sprained his left ankle in an offseason workout and will undergo surgery to re-stabilize it, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. He will likely miss the beginning of the 2025-26 season.

The Grizzlies said Edey is expected to make a full recovery and a timeline for recovery will be provided after surgery.
