The Lehigh Valley and much of eastern Pennsylvania are under an extreme heat warning with temperatures near 100 degrees through Wednesday.

With New York under an extreme heat warning, the Mets took extra precautions Monday. Those included a later report time for players and shorter rounds of batting practice before the series opener against the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field.

Advisories take effect this week as the heat index for most of Maryland is expected to reach up to 110 in the coming days.
