James Maddison was seen on crutches and visibly devastated after suffering what appears to be a serious knee injury in Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season clash with Newcastle, just days after making his comeback from a previous setback.

James Maddison was taken off on a stretcher with his head in his hands to hand Tottenham a huge injury concern ahead of the new season. The midfielder was a late substitute in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle, a pre-season friendly in South Korea in which saw captain Heung-min Son bid an emotional farewell after 10 years at Spurs.

The Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United game ended in a 1-1 draw, but the focus quickly shifted to James Maddison, who was stretchered off the pitch after a knee injury.
