A Republican Maine state representative has filed a lawsuit alleging the state’s House speaker and other Democrats violated her First Amendment rights and disenfranchised her constituents by censuring her last month and barring from speaking or voting on the House floor.

I have the constitutional right to speak out and my constituents have the right to full representation in the Maine House,’ Representative Laurel Libby said.

AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - Rep. Laurel Libby, R-Auburn, has filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court against the Maine Speaker of the House. In a social media post, Libby says that a lawsuit was filed against Rep. Ryan Fecteau, D-Biddeford, for “attempting to silence both myself and my constituents, whom I was elected to represent.”
