A death metal guitarist has been shot dead by cops in San Francisco, reportedly after a dispute with a neighbor over a tree became violent. Possessed band member Brian Montana was killed after firing at officers called out to reports of a man brandishing a weapon on Monday evening, cops say.

The former guitarist of Possessed, a pioneering death metal band, was fatally shot in a standoff with police. Brian Montana, 60, was killed by police in South San Francisco, Calif., following a standoff that ensued after he brandished a gun at a neighbor, the South San Francisco Police Department said.
