Days after video surfaced of a person pinned down at Newark airport, the U.S. Embassy in India reminds travelers visiting the U.S. is not a right.
Immigration rights groups said a riot occurred inside Delaney Hall in Newark on June 12 after detainees protested over insufficient food.
The US Embassy stated on Tuesday that while the United States continues to welcome legitimate travelers, it “cannot and will not tolerate” illegal entry or the misuse of visas.The message was shared in a brief statement posted on X.

The incident, occurred at Newark Airport, came to light after Kunal Jain, an Indian-American entrepreneur, posted the video on social media.
The Indian national, whose identity has now been revealed, had illegally entered the United States when he was detained.
India has raised concerns with the US regarding an Indian man from Haryana who was handcuffed at Newark Airport.
