Singer Hanni spoke to CNN about the change, saying that the five-member group decided to rebrand as a means of "turning this rough period of time into something more exciting.

K-pop girl group NewJeans has revealed a new name for itself — NJZ — amid an ongoing legal battle with its label Ador. The quintet, consisting of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin and Hyein, confirmed they will be performing under their new name for the first time at the ComplexCon Hong Kong festival in March.

The battle between NewJeans and Ador and its parent company Hybe has intensified. Today, the K-pop group has revealed they’re changing their name to NJZ. They’ve also announced that they’ll be headlining ComplexCon Hong Kong.
