Michelle Obama will not attend President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, marking the second recent event involving former US leaders that she has skipped.

Mrs. Obama also declined to attend the funeral of Jimmy Carter last week, which would have put her face-to-face with Mr. Trump.

The planned absence Monday follows another notable absence last week at the state funeral of former president Jimmy Carter.
