Round 2 of the U.S. Open was suspended Friday due to inclement weather. Action will resume Saturday morning before the start of the third round.
Low scores were incredibly hard to come by in the first round of the 2025 US Open. JJ Spaun dropped the best score of the round from the morning tee times and that stuck for the duration of the day. Spaun turned in a rare bogey-free four-under 66 to take the 18-hole lead.

DeChambeau followed what his fellow SMU alum, the late Payne Stewart, accomplished 25 years earlier by winning the U.S. Open at Pinehurst. He is looking for his third U.S. Open title. Kim, a Dallas resident, in entering his fourth U.S. Open. His career best finish came in 2023 in Los Angeles (-8).
Following the first day's action at the US Open 2025, Brooks Koepka was tied for third alongside Si Woo Kim and Sungjae Im. He was just two shots behind J.J. Spaun, who fired a low 66 to take a solo first-day lead.
