Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy put up a triumphant performance in his first game back after missing five weeks due to a high ankle sprain. Playing in Michigan for the first time since his college days with the Wolverines, McCarthy scored three touchdowns and helped the Vikings earn a 27-24 win over the Lions in Detroit.

J.J. McCarthy kept his cool for the entirety of the Vikings' upset over the Lions before dropping an f-bomb when he spoke with Tom Brady.

McCarthy has thrown two touchdown passes as the Vikings took a 17-14 lead over the Lions at halftime. Justin Jefferson and T.J. Hockenson each caught a touchdown from McCarthy and the Vikings also got a 50-yard field goal from Will Reichard.

McCarthy appeared to answer those questions Sunday in the Vikings’ upset 27–24 win over the Lions at Ford Field. In his third career start, McCarthy threw for 143 yards with two touchdowns and one interception on 14-of-25 passing—good for an 82.6 passer rating.
