The Philadelphia 76ers will begin their three-game road trip tonight as they take on the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center. The Sixers, after a good start to the season, fell in the NBA Cup in a close game.
The team announced that Embiid’s absence is part of a pre-planned rest day, as they continue to closely monitor his left knee. According to Kyle Neubeck, there are no new concerns regarding the injury — the plan is simply to ramp Embiid up gradually as the season progresses.
The 76ers were never equipped for a part-time Embiid before. There are still areas in which it will be a struggle -- most notably defense. But the 76ers have never come close to this sort of shot-creation depth, and that at least offers a pathway to building a viable offense without Embiid on the floor.
