The San Bernardino Department of Animal Services spent the last few days tracking down 25 dogs after someone broke into the shelter earlier this week.

A woman was caught on camera breaking into an animal shelter in the Inland Empire and running off with more than a dozen dogs. Staff said the woman broke into the shelter Wednesday morning, releasing 20 of the 300 dogs inside the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control is changing its weekend hours to better accommodate the public and enhance adoption and fostering opportunities.

While Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control staff were able to avoid space-based euthanasia decisions on Thursday, the shelter’s capacity crisis is still far from over. The shelter remains at critical capacity with more than 150 dogs coming in over the last four days.

Shelter capacity has been an ongoing issue for Animal Care & Control, with officials working urgently to avoid euthanizing animals.
