GM has hired Sterling Anderson, the former director of Tesla’s Autopilot program and a co-founder of autonomous startup Aurora, as chief product officer overseeing all vehicle development.

GM hires ex-Tesla, Aurora exec as chief product officer. Sterling Anderson, who worked at Tesla for two years before forming Aurora in 2017, will start with the Detroit automaker on June 2.

The only thing this shares with the Oldsmobile Aurora is the name, the Olds was developed from a different styling concept from 1987-88 nicknamed the “Tube Car” internally.
