India and Pakistan's latest military conflict has expanded, days after India carried out airstrikes in Pakistan that followed an attack by gunmen on tourists in India-controlled Kashmir last month.

Tensions between India and Pakistan remain high days after Delhi launched airstrikes on its neighbor, sparking tit-for-tat military action from both sides this week and widespread confusion as competing claims and disinformation spread online.

On the last two occasions that India and Pakistan clashed significantly over Kashmir, in 2016 and 2019, the U.S. played a key role in deescalating tensions. However, today’s Trump administration is taking a hands-off approach, with Vice President J.D. Vance telling Fox News that the spat was “fundamentally none of our business.”
